The start of a 31 day challenge #writeandrun31

I can’t believe it’s 2015 already! I’m not big into resolutions but I do think it’s a nice way to look into entering a new year and setting goals for where I’d like to be. I hadn’t thought of any resolutions yet this year but 5 days into 2015 I think I decided what my goals for the year (or at least upcoming months) will be. Seeing the #writeandrun31 challenge couldn’t have come at a better time. This challenge along with attempting to hit 10,000 steps a day are my new resolutions goals.

I’m not a vegan but I really like to eat vegan whenever I can. This time last year I cut all dairy out of my diet for probably close to 3 months. I felt so much better not eating it but I unfortunately am not as strong-willed as I’d like and letting myself slip once, led to twice, etc. etc… every other New Years resolution I’ve tried to make. I’ve read so many productivity posts that suggest trying to do something everyday for a certain amount of time and then it just becomes easier and more habit forming.

In my vegan wannabe search for recipes I came across the No Meat Athlete a year or so ago and have been following him ever since. He is an ultra marathon runner which isn’t even something I aspire to be, just a runner in general. I used to love to run and now as I’ve done it less and less and let my bad knees get the best of me I’ve started to not like it as much. So, when I saw the #writeandrun31 challenge I thought it would be perfect. Not only have I allowed myself to neglect running but I also haven’t kept up with this blog the way I’d like to. So I’m going to attempt this challenge and document it here (hopefully not documenting my failures). I’m hoping this will be the start of forming better habits to write here more often and not loathe running the way I have. I also plan to sign up for a run as soon as I can so I have something to train towards. Unfortunately the chilly temps coming to Philly in the next few months means nothing in the too near future but I’m hoping to be signed up for something by March/April.

Okay, so here are my specific goals for my commitment sheet, I’m going to start very small so it’s difficult for me to make any excuses for why I can’t get these things done. Write: At least 400 words a day. Run: At least 20 minutes a day. so there it is. Day one of my #writeandrun31 challenge. Bring on 2015!
